Tyler Turner works in all areas of education law, with a particular focus on charter schools. His practice includes representing and counseling clients in matters of employment, student discipline, contracts, board governance, construction and procurement, special education, ethics laws, Freedom of Information Act compliance, office of civil rights complaints, and non-profit and 501(c)(3) formation and compliance.

Tyler has assisted charter planning committees with the charter school application process from the planning stages through formation and operation. He has also represented charter schools in negotiations with and appearances before charter school sponsors/authorizers. Tyler has presented on a variety of legal issues to education groups and conducted training sessions for charter school board members.

He has also represented plaintiffs and defendants in litigation in both state and federal court, including employment disputes, contract disputes, personal injury and wrongful death cases, defamation and civil conspiracy claims, and construction defect claims.

Tyler was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 2009 after receiving his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of South Carolina. While in law school, Tyler was a member of the South Carolina Law Review, the Order of the Wig and Robe, and a student member of the John Belton O’Neall Inn of Court. He received Cali Awards in Legal Drafting and Legal Research. Tyler received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics, magna cum laude, from the University of Georgia. While an undergraduate, Tyler was a member of the Beta Gamma Business Honor Society, Golden Key International Honour Society, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Tyler interned with the United States Golf Association and served as a mentor and tutor at Chase Street Elementary School.

Tyler is married to Jennifer Turner. Jen is a physician assistant and provides primary care to Lexington County employees and their families. Tyler and Jen have triplets in elementary school. Tyler comes from a family of educators, including his mother, who is a retired special education teacher. Tyler enjoys spending time with his family and friends, traveling, playing golf, hiking, and following college sports.
